An exceptional and highly sought-after Hermès Faune et Flore du Texas cashmere and silk shawl, designed by legendary American artist Kermit Oliver.
Originally created in 1987, Faune et Flore du Texas is one of Kermit Oliver’s most celebrated designs for Hermès. Inspired by the vast plains, mountains, deserts and rivers of Texas, the composition brings together the extraordinary wildlife and vegetation of the region. A majestic wild turkey dominates the center, surrounded by mustangs, pumas, coyotes, birds, cacti, flowers and trailing vines. Hermès continues to celebrate this emblematic archival design today through new interpretations, a testament to its enduring place in the Maison’s heritage.
The exceptionally subtle dusty rose and olive green tones are particularly difficult to capture accurately in photographs. The palette is beautifully muted and delicate in person, with soft, old-world autumnal shades and no bright or flashy colors.
Never used and exceptionally preserved, the shawl still retains its original square factory fold. A remarkable collector’s piece and a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most sought-after Kermit Oliver designs in an especially subtle and unusual colorway.
